Sewing skill levels

Beginner:
You may have taken a sewing class a long time ago but don't remember much, or you may have no experience sewing whatsoever. You may know how to sew a basic straight seam.

Advanced Beginner:
You know how to thread your machine, sew a straight seam, finish and press it, turn corners and backstitch.

Intermediate:
You know how to thread your machine, sew a straight seam, finish and press it, turn corners, how to follow basic pattern instructions, cut out a garment and create a rolled hem.

Advanced:
You know how to sew a straight seam, turn corners, finish, and press a seam, as well as how to follow pattern instructions, cut out a garment, and create a rolled hem. Knowledge of buttons and buttonholes, hook and eyes, interfacing and zipper insertion is helpful.
